Re-Grading of Shepherd's Bush Station

From Bob Crow, General Secretary

I write to update Branches that a resolution was received from our Central Line West Branch alleging unfair and discriminatory practices against members at Shepherds Bush. I am pleased to advise branches that the matter is now been resolved and the General Grades Committee has decided to close the file.

London Underground plans to:

  • cut 20 staff at the stations in this area (West Ruislip to Shepherd’s Bush)

Proposed Station Groups Reorganisation: Details for the Central line

London Underground's proposed new groups for the Central line are as follows:

Greenford - West Ruislip, Ruislip Gardens, South Ruislip, Northolt, Greenford, Perivale, Hanger Lane, Ealing Broadway, West Acton, North Acton, East Acton, White City, Shepherd's Bush - 13 stations, c.135 staff

  • This is the current Greenford group with White City and Shepherd's Bush stations added. Greenford group currently has 102 staff; White City has 14, Shepherd's Bush 25, and their share of their current group's reserve is around 14. Total = 155. So, management's proposals represent the loss of around 20 jobs on these stations.

Rest Day Roster: Survey to take place

Notting Hill Gate's GSM has been refusing to implement a rest day roster for reserve staff, in the mistaken belief that he is entitled to do so unilaterally.

Shepherds Bush Central upgraded to SS1

Shepherds Bush and Wood Lane station under went a review today, where your reps and LU management visit the station to assess everything from UTS gates, Staff levels, POMs, Lifts and Escalators to passenger foot fall which all carry an amount of points under the complexity review.

New Westfield shopping centre - the impact on stations

Here are some statistics about the new Westfield shopping centre due to open at the end of this month in the White City / Shepherd's Bush area. This will clearly have a big impact on workload for station staff, particularly at White City, both Shepherd's Bush stations and the new Wood Lane station. It gives some context to RMT's concerns about the inadequate planned rosters and staffing levels at Wood Lane.
