Report: Strategy & Development Forum, 5 November 2009

At the Strategy & Development Forum today (5 November), trade union and management representatives met and discussed the following issues. RMT representatives at the meeting were Malcolm Taylor, Neil Cochrane and Janine Booth.

Stations Revenue Forum Report 20th October

The main issues affecting our members were:

1. £5 Minimum PAYG Top Up

Management informed us that a briefing paper was being compiled for an Executive decision on whether to roll out the £5 minimum PAYG top up to all stations on the network. It looks likely that they will do this as it is clearly part of their on-going strategy to drive customers away from the ticket office windows.

Exposed: London Underground Management Attack Stations and Revenue Jobs

London Underground management is attacking jobs - and the most recent Stations & Revenue Council meeting revealed the extent of their attack. London Underground is:

  • trying to scrap jobs "on the quiet"
  • keeping posts vacant even where there are staff ready and willing to fill them
  • leaving duties uncovered when staff are available to cover them

Ex-Silverlink Stations: Management Attack Core Supervisor Role

London Underground management are trying to whittle away the core roles of a Station Supervisor by creating a part-qualified Supervisor grade on the ex-Silverlink stations. RMT believes that this is both unfair on the staff who will take up these Supervisor jobs and a threat to the Station Supervisor grade in general.

Discussing the Framework Agreement

At the Framework Forum this Thursday (16 July), we will be discussing the following:

  • 12 Hours Rest
  • Staff Being Moved To Other Groups Under Guise Of Development Opportunities
  • New draft of Framework Agreement Schedule 1
  • New draft of Framework Agreement Schedule 2
  • New draft of Framework Agreement Schedule 3

RMT Puts Your Issues on the Agenda

RMT has tabled the following issues for discussion at the Stations & Revenue Council meeting later this month.

  • Etiquette of functional council meetings – As per 27th February 2002 Functional council minutes the governance of the meetings was agreed. We want a reminder of this agreement stated in meetings so both parties are aware of their roles and these roles adhered to.

Report: Strategy and Development Forum, 14 May 2009

Your RMT representatives at this meeting were Malcolm Taylor and Janine Booth. Issues discussed were as follows:

  • Work experience for disabled people

LUL has a programme of work experience on stations for people with learning disabilities. RMT supports this, and will continue to receive reports form management and input any ideas or concerns from our staff.

  • Update: Training, continuous development

Management reported at the Strategy and Development Forum on 14 May that the new training programme was to start the following week. There will be fewer Station Supervisors in each class. We asked how this will be achieved with the existing number and trainers, suggesting that more trainers' posts should be created.
