At our Level 1 meeting on 11.8.10, to discuss the proposed rosters for Rickmansworth group as drawn up under the COO process, the TU side stated that we will submit a collective grievance. I am now writing to you in accordance with the LUL grievance procedure to outline the terms of this grievance.

Textback trial

London Underground management have reported on the trial of 'Textback', the conclusion of which is that it was so ineffective that it will not be rolled out across the Underground as previously planned.

Travelling a Long Way for Training Workshops

Many staff, particularly at outlying stations, are annoyed at how far they are expected to travel to workshops such as 'Time for Action' and 'Valuing Time', held in a central London location.

RMT asked management to use a variety of venues, so for example, staff could attend the workshops in Wembley, or Stratford, or Acton, or Morden, if that was more local to their usual workplace. Management refused.

Met Line Tube station staff to strike tomorrow over forced transfers

RMT press release, issued today

SOME 70 RMT station staff at a dozen stations at the north end of London Underground’s Metropolitan line are to strike for 24 hours from 05:30 tomorrow (Thursday) morning against the forced transfer of staff.

Members returned a 13-to-one majority for action after senior LUL management breached its own procedures to tell staff on permanent postings that they would have to move jobs – over-ruling a potential solution negotiated locally.

Rickmansworth: Defend the 5 CSAs! Time to Fight!

Vote YES for Strike Action - Ballot Papers will arrive from 23 July

  • Five CSAs told they Will be Transferred on 10 Aug
  • LUL Wait until RMT rep going on Leave to Issue Notices
  • We Must Stand Together and Fight this Disgraceful Management Behaviour

We would all hope that our colleagues would support us if we were facing a forced transfer. You would not want to face getting a staff taxi at 3am to make a dead early at Paddington. Don’t let it happen to your fellow workers.

Chesham: Passengers And Workers Unite Against Ticket Office Cuts

A second meeting to organise a passengers’ campaign to stop ticket office closures has been held in Chesham. Eighteen people attended a planning meeting and several have already been out petitioning at the station. The campaign is also opposing closures and reduction of window service at Amersham and Chalfont & Latimer stations. Campaigners are now calling on Chesham Town Council to challenge London Underground to attend a consultation meeting, which would be open to the public.

Update: Rickmansworth 'Over-establishment' CSAs

UPDATE ... We reported to you previously about LUL’s threat to displace Rickmansworth CSAs off their group. We are pleased to report that following strong representation from RMT, LUL has withdrawn these displacements in order to let the normal processes of promotion etc. resolve the ‘over-staffing’.

Rickmansworth Displacements

Rickmansworth group RMT rep Jared Wood reports ...

Management are trying to force seven CSAs to transfer off the Rickmansworth group reserve. LUL says the group is ‘over establishment’ for CSAs - but this is because of LUL’s mismanagement and has nothing to do with the individual members now being told to move.
