Report: Stations & Revenue Council meeting, 27 July 2010
Some issues and outcomes from the Stations and Revenue Control Council meeting held on Tuesday 27 July ...
- Weekend closures
- High Barnet regrading
- Misuse of evacuation sheets
- Maximum days for dependants leave
- Willesden Green group.
Weekend closures. RMT reminded management that the Framework Agreement clearly states that GSMs should consult local union reps about any proposed changes to staff's duties when there is a closure for engineering works. We pointed out that on several groups eg. East Ham, Oval, Liverpool Street and others, this had not happened. Management accepted that this consultation should take place.
High Barnet regarding.. Following the opening of a control room and an additional exit in October 2009, High Barnet station was regraded from SSMF to SS2. However, management applied the pay rise for Supervisors only from April 2010, whereas RMT argued that it should be from October. After Supervisors submitted a collective grievance, management have now offered a 'compromise' of backdating the pay rise to February 2010, the date of the site visit. RMT will consult the members affected before replying to management's offer.
Misuse of evacuation sheets.. RMT reported that a manager had used an evacuation sheet as evidence in an LDI, contravening company policy that evacuation sheets should not be used in disciplinary action. Management agreed that the manager should not do this.
Maximum days for dependants' leave. RMT reported that a GSM had sent out a letter to staff stating that there would be a maximum 5 days dependants' leave for staff, whereas the law states that staff can have unpaid leave for domestic emergencies (eg. a dependant being taken ill) with no maximum number of days applying. Management accepted that this letter was wrong, saying that it partly arose from a mistake in the Managers' Handbook which has subsequently been corrected.
Willesden Green group. Management stated that they would look into the situation on the Willesden Green group, as so many problems are being referred from this particular group to the Council.
