The abuse of personal contact details
It seems to be a never ending complaint that LUL managers harass and invade the privacy of our members and cause alarm and distress to them and their next of kin by making unsolicited calls whilst our members are off sick – even to the point of abusing the emergency contact details that are provided.
In a document compiled by the APC Joint Working Party attached below you will see that the RMT Union put it to LUL management that contact by telephone can amount to bullying.
LUL Management responded when staff are off sick that contact arrangements should be agreed at the beginning but that contact details provided for emergency situations should never be used in connection with the “management of absence”, and that failure to turn up for duty is not an emergency.
What better way of informing managers that you do not want to be called is there than already having given notice of this fact in writing prior to any absence?
The first attachment below is a memo that all members can print off and send in to their GSM or TOM (employing manager) informing them that they do NOT have the members permission to call.
