Revenue Forum Report: £5 Minimum Top-Up to be Imposed on 2nd January

fiverManagement confirmed that the £5 minimum Top–Up will be rolled out across the whole network with the January fares revision. RMT have and will continue to object to the £5 minimum top up. Its introduction is a sinister move to reduce transactions at the ticket office window at the expense of our members jobs, safety and customer service. RMT will also be raising our objections as there has not been a full consultation on the company wide introduction of the £5 minimum Top-Up. To date management have only consulted on the trial of the £5 minimum Top-Up.

Management informed us that there would be several changes to the conditions and issuing of various tickets introduced in the January fares revision, below is a snapshot of these changes. RMT expressed concern at the number of changes being brought in at the same time and the difficulties this may present for staff.

•There will no longer be a separate Privilege daily price cap. Standard Adult and Child caps will now apply.
•Non standard local DLR only fares within Zone 2 and 3 will be withdrawn
•Maximum journey times applicable to a number of lengthy journeys on the North and West London lines, which are entirely within zone 2 will be given more generous time allowances
•New Deal photocard holders will no longer be able to purchase child rate Day Travelcards, but can obtain the same value by use of PAYG to which a lower ‘New Deal’ cap applies. New Deal holders will still be able to purchase Child Single or Return tickets and NR stations outside of London will continue to issue Child rate Return tickets including Day Travelcard availability to New Deal holders.
•Adult escorts of holders of a NR Disabled Persons Railcard will be able to purchase and use a Child Day Travelcard (Off Peak) when accompanying the disabled person
•In addition to a lower Off Peak cap, holders of an Oyster card with a NR Railcard discount entitlement
