Station Supervisor Recruitment Campaign
LUL management is to launch a new Station Supervisor recruitment campaign, for staff willing to work at Greenford, Rickmansworth, Hammersmith, Paddington and Harrow-on-the-Hill groups.
The company reported at the Strategy and Development Fourm on 14 May that it intends to fill SS vacanices on these groups with existing SS licence-holders first, then by opening applications to SAMFs. RMT successfully argued that this should be extended to all MF license-holders who are eligible to nominate.
Management told us that they intended to accept only the first 475 applications. RMT objected, as this is a departure from the established practice of setting a deadline for applications, and we believe that everyone who gets their application in by the deadline has the right to have it considered rather than arbitrarily disregarded because it happened to be the 476th application received. Management conceded our point, but warned that this would mean a very short period during which applications would be accepted.
Management also said that they expected 60 applicants to pass the assessment process, and that it would take 12 weeks to assess, recruit and train them.
