Higher Grade working, are you being short changed?
Do you hold licenses for jobs other than your current grade? Do you regularly get Higher Grade Working (HGW)? If you have answered yes you may not be getting the pay you deserve. After an item was raised at a local level 1 meeting regarding HGW, the GSM was forced to concede that the agreement below needed to be adhered to. Staff members have been advised to write to the GSM to check on all previous HGW to see if any monies are outstanding.
This was previously discussed at a Stations Functional Council held on the 3rd March 2000. Staff side raised the following in respect of HGW payments.
Item 7 Higher rate pay – whole shift basis
Staff side said that this was an item from a level 1 meeting. On the Blackhorse road group CSAS with appropriate licences were being deployed to the ticket office for 2 hours and only paid the CSA(MF) rate for those 2 hours, with the rest of the shift as CSA. In fact such people were being truly multi-functional under the definition of an CSA(MF).
Management agreed that under such circumstances higher rate pay should be paid for the whole shift.
