Dear Colleagues,

Your RMT representatives and I met with Gerry Duffy and LU management yesterday and sadly very little progress was made. Firstly we even had difficulty getting our representatives released to attend the meeting, which did not indicate a willingness on management's part to solve the issues.

1 - We asked for an immediate directors review for Carl Campbell which Mr Duffy turned down. We are of course still available to meet Mr Duffy up until nine o’clock tonight when the action commences to seek a resolution. Video evidence of the incident clearly shows that the doors on the train did not open.

2 - Despite asking for an emergency tier one meeting about right side door enablers in February before the Carl Campbell incident, one has not been granted by management. We have had to schedule the topic onto the regular meeting next week. The Victoria line is the only line where the wrong doors can be opened and the public including children are exposed to this unnecessary danger.

3 - The victimisation of our members was only addressed in as much as management agreed to talk to us about it. No specific guarantees were given that the behaviour would be stopped.

4 - The abuses of attendance and disciplinary procedures were not admitted to by management despite emails by managers that banned any use of discretion which totally contravenes London undergrounds own policy .

IN SPITE OF ALL THE ABOVE THE RMT REMAINS AVAILABLE FOR TALKS AT ALL TIMES AND IS SEEKING TO GAIN JUSTICE FOR OUR MEMBERS AND TO PROTECT THE TRAVELLING PUBLIC FROM LONDON UNDERGROUND'S FAILURE TO ENSURE SAFE WORKING BECAUSE IT COSTS TOO MUCH. IT IS NO GOOD BEING WISE AFTER THE EVENT: WE DONT NEED ANOTHER KING'S CROSS, POTTER'S BAR OR CLAPHAM BEFORE MONEY IS SPENT TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC.
