Your Right To 12 Hours Rest
You are entitled to 12 hours rest between duties. This is specified in the Framework Agreement and can only be reduced to 10 hours "exceptionally" and 8 hours "in an emergency". These exceptions and emergencies concern service requirement. There is no exemption according to whether your duties are safety-critical or not.
So you are certainly entitled to 12 hours rest between duties when attending LUL's 'Valuing Time' workshop. You must finish work 12 hours before the event starts, and not work again until at least 12 hours after its finishing time.
If your GSM tells you otherwise, or expects you to take less than 12 hours rest, contact your RMT rep immediately.
We value our time too!
