Station & Revenue Grades Meeting Held on 25/09/08

STATION & REVENUE GRADES MEETING

Thursday 25th September 2008

Meeting Secretary: Brian Haughian 07949 163 470

Attendance: 18 members attended from Kings Cross, Embankment, Gloucester Road, Edgware, Goodge St, Victoria, Charing Cross, Bank, Camden, Arnos Grove, Paddington and Heathrow.

1. New Venue: The meeting took a vote on the venue, time and date. It was decided to move future meetings to the downstairs meeting room in Unity House on the Tuesday before Regional at 16:00hrs.

2. New Chair: Malcolm Taylor was voted in as the new chair.

3. SRT: A good discussion was held about issues surrounding SRT especially the incident at Kings Cross where an SRT member was put to cover a duty in the Ticket Office, which is clearly in breach of their framework agreement. Staff at Kings Cross walked out until the issue was resolved and now management have said they will all lose 40 mins pay. Many members felt that the SRT is a strike busting team in disguise, and it was agreed that rather than alienate the SRT we should be ensuring they are members and work to keep them onside.

4. RMT Rep: It was suggested and thought to be a good idea for Reps to get (RMT Rep) put after their name on the internal email system so that they can be more easily identified.

5. Station Disputes: A report was given on station disputes and the fact that a lot of small disputes were largely ineffective and there was a need to campaign for an all grades dispute. Management want to be able to move any staff anywhere at anytime, but there was a feeling that they have got bigger plans, especially with the attendance clamp down which is an all grades issue. It was reported that the letter being sent to staff telling them that they may be moved was not agreed by RMT.

6. All Grades Dispute: The message of how important an all grades dispute is and how it affects drivers needs to be sold to them now, otherwise we will end up in the same position as the last time where head office dithered and drivers didn’t get the message. It was suggested that resolutions should be put through branch’s to move to an all grades dispute and that it was really important to get train Reps on board.

7. RMT Platform: We still need to plug it at meetings and get more members to sign up. www.rmtplatform.org.uk

Meeting closed at 16:15.

Next meeting to be held in meeting room at Unity House, 39 Chalton Street, NW1 1JD, on Tuesday 28th October at 16:00hrs. Nearest tube: Euston or Kings Cross.
