Continuing the fight for Brother Bowes
Whist the Union looks to ballot Drivers, Station staff on the Charing cross group carried out another 24 hours of industrial action in support of Jerome Bowes.
In the week leading upto Friday a member of Employee relations a Mr Johnathon Taylor issued an e-mail telling managers to mark anyone on strike as absent and if they contested this at an LDi they would have to produce their Union cards to prove they took action legally. General Manager Lance Ramsey issued a bulletin informing staff that we wouldn't achieve anything from the action apart from damaging the performance of the Bakerloo Line (ergo his Performance related pay takes a kicking) well on behalf of the RMT members Let me send our heart felt apologies to you Lance for upsetting the Bakerloo's performance!............... Ahem!
As per the usual Managers and some RCi's were drafted in to cover the stations and keep them open but it transpires they were opened with unfalliarised staff and/or below minimum numbers (something which the Health & Safety guys are taking up!)
At Elephant & Castle 23 passengers were stuck in the lifts for around 1hour 30 minutes with no senior managers complaining but the next day when normal rostered staff were on there were some passengers stuck for only 7 minutes and calls were being made to ask why it was taking so long!!
Charing Cross was apparently opened with below minimum numbers (although we are still getting clarification on that as the paperwork is a little hard to get hold of at the moment strangely enough!)
The strike was well supported again and the upper most respect goes to the Brothers and Sisters who stood in solidarity over the dissgraceful sacking of Brother Bowes.
A date for Jerome's Employment Tribunial has been given as the 16th 17th September we wish you well comrade!
