Update: Ex-Silverlink staff
LUL has issued new contracts to staff. It is OK to sign these, as they are standard LUL contracts. If you want management to clarify anything before you sign, you have every right to ask them.
Staff went on to LUL conditions from 6 April, but will not get the pay rate until June! RMT continues to fight for the pay rise to be backdated to 11 November last year: the date of the transfer.
LUL managers are now drafting ‘business needs schematics’ showing which grades of staff need to be on duty at which times; these form the basis of rosters. Your RMT reps will discuss these with management and argue for adequate staffing levels and for rosters that avoid anti-social working patterns.
Once rosters are agreed, staff will go into their new positions. After this point, you will be able to nominate to move to any other station on London Underground; and other LUL station staff will be able to nominate to move to the ex-Silverlink stations.
LUL rejected appeals by RSAs to become Station Supervisors not SAMFs. However, these appeals will be reheard on 7 May with RMT reps arguing the case for the appeals.
As a result of our recent dispute, all ex-Silverlink stations will have a Station Supervisor on duty at least for traffic hours. But most will have a security guard rather than a Supervisor on the station while it is closed at night. While RMT has won a big improvement on LUL’s earlier plan to use ‘mobile supervisors’, we believe that there should be Station Supervisors on duty 24/7 at every station.
RMT will also take up issues with management such as: loss of overtime to ex-Silverlink staff by the use of agency staff; lack of adequate rest between duties for agency staff; and any other issues you would like us to raise.
RMT asked LUL to recognise an extra RMT rep for Hammersmith group because Gunnersbury and Kew Gardens have been added to the group. LUL refused, so this will now be discussed at Company Council.
To get the best possible deal for you, RMT needs your input and involvement. Reps will continue to visit the stations to hear your concerns. Please keep on ringing us; give out RMT newsletters; go to your branch meeting; and come to our station grades meetings too. Get active!
