Lifting The Limits
Currently, you are entitled to nominate 5 locations that you would like to transfer to, and 10 locations for a promotional move if you have achieved promotion to a new grade.
Why, RMT asked, have these limits? There may be more than 5 locations that you would rather work at than the one you work at now. And if you have achieved a promotion, why should you be restricted in the number of locations you can then move to work at in your new grade?
No good reason, it appears - and when RMT raised this issue at the Stations & Revenue Council on 19 June, management agreed to lift the limits. This is a win for workers, and the process of staff moving to locations and grades that suit you better should now speed up.
The limits of 5 transfer and 10 promotional nominations date back to the days when you had the right to refuse a move. When this policy was changed a few years ago, the limits should really have been lifted then. They weren't - but RMT representation has now put this right.
As soon as the new system is confirmed, we'll let you know and you can dust off that nomination form and add some new choices!
