No Compulsory Transfers!
From Jared Wood, RMT Industrial Relations Rep, to all RMT members, Rickmansworth group.
Management Say 8 CSAs Must Leave Rickmansworth group
RMT Will Not Accept Compulsory Transfers
You may remember that just before Christmas LU tried to force 7 CSAs to move from our group because we are “over establishment”. The reason we have more CSAs on our reserve than the establishment level is because LU resourcing, for reasons they still cannot explain, kept sending new CSAs up to Ricky as they finished their training. None of the members concerned was ever told that their position on this group was temporary and each has planned their lives on the basis that they will be working up here.
At that time we had a total of 12 CSAs over the establishment level and management wanted to move 7 of them. At a Level two meeting, in January, management agreed to wait and see whether the number of CSAs on the group started to come down through the normal course of promotions and transfers. Since then several CSAs on the group have moved and we now have only 8 over establishment. Despite this management now want to move the original 7 plus another one bringing the total to 8.
The position of RMT on this is clear. We accept that the number of CSAs on Rickmansworth group will fall but this must be done over time and through normal transfers and promotions. If any CSA on the group would like to move to the locations where management say there are shortages then we have no objection to this happening. The locations are Harrow-on-the-Hill, Heathrow and Wembley Central. It may also be possible to move to other locations where vacancies are likely to arise. But any such move must be with the agreement of the member involved.
We will not accept any compulsory transfers which are completely outside of the normal procedures for transfers. Management have accepted that this situation is entirely their responsibility and we will not accept our members being asked to pay for their incompetence.
All the best,
Jared
